My Favourite Star Wars Moments

With The Force Awakens just around the corner, it got me thinking. Although I use Queen Amidala as my avatar here and just about everywhere else, I don’t think I’ve ever written anything about Star Wars on my blog (unless you count Star Wars LEGO!) So I thought now might be a good time to think about my favourite moments from the first six episodes. Here goes!

The Phantom Menace

Darth Maul stabs Qui-Gon. Although I have something of an obsession with Queen Amidala and her costumes – I was 13 years old when Episode I came out, so the 14-year-old queen made quite an impression on me – this moment when Obi-Wan sees his master fall to Darth Maul is such a pivotal moment in the film, and for Obi-Wan’s character. I think he moved a teensy bit towards the dark side in the fight that followed. I’ve always wondered if he would have been able to defeat Darth Maul without that anger.

Attack of the Clones

Jedi battle on Geonosis. Episode II is my least favourite of the existing Star Wars films, but finally getting to see a whole lot of Jedi in battle helped make up for the rest of the movie. The scene where Jar Jar convinces the Senate to give Palpatine ’emergency’ power is a close second.

Revenge of the Sith

“So this is how liberty dies… with thunderous applause.” All of Palpatine’s plans come together here. This scene feels just a little too close to real life for comfort.

A New Hope

“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?” Despite having been captured, tortured and her home destroyed, Leia still doesn’t play the damsel in distress. (Also, her hair and clothes look amazing despite the torture and such.)

The Empire Strikes Back

Yoda lifts Luke’s X-wing out of the swamp. Besides being really cool and showing how powerful Yoda is, this is such an important moment for Luke.

Return of the Jedi

“He’s my brother.” Han’s face after Leia says this… priceless. This scene is also a really nice moment in the film.

I must say, it was really hard just choosing one moment from each film that really stood out for me. I could probably have come up with a dozen or more for every single movie, but then this post would be a lot longer.
